Pause + Reflection = Progress

Pause + Reflection = Progress

How was 2025 for you?

Have you had time to catch breath yet and to reflect on the year just gone?

A lot of people I know they were running on empty by the time Christmas arrived and were looking forward to switching off.

Here’s a question I’ve been discussing at home this week “What were your three best decisions of 2025?”

I’ll share mine shortly, but here’s why I think this is such a simple and powerful reflection moment.

It’s very easy to focus on what went wrong and give ourselves a hard time.

At this time of year, I think it’s powerful to notice what worked well and to then look at how you can build on that in 2026.

I re-read the book Billion Dollar Coach this year and finding time for pause and reflection I think if is non-negotiable if you want to create growth.

My 3 Best Decisions of 2025

  • Getting a Coach - I spent the latter part of 2025 working with an acting and performance coach to rework my keynote talks in terms of content and delivery. Better never stops is my mantra and even though it’s been one of my best years in so many ways, there is always room to grow and be so much better.

  • Prioritising Health - an old back injury flared up and this Autumn I committed to a treatment plan with a chiropractor. It’s been nothing short of astounding and my flexibility and movement is better than it’s been in decades.

  • Being Present - as a highly driven person it’s sometimes tricky to slow down and be present for others. I’ve hugely focused on this in 2025 and in particular for my family to create another level of Aliveness.

What that all means as I reflected is for me it’s been a platform year getting home, heath and work aligned and ready to rock into 2026.

Point being that I didn’t recognise all that until I paused to reflect and join the dots up.

What will a pause and reflect reveal for you and what can you do with that to propel you in into 2026?

3 Simple Experiments:

The 2 Minute Experiment - what were your 3 best decisions of 2025. Write them down.

The 5 Minute Experiment - reflect on your best decisions and how you can use that for next year.

The 1 Hour Experiment - go for a walk in nature on your own with nothing to listen to and reflect on the year. See what else bubbles up…
