My next bold experiment is {…..}.

One of the themes I observe about people who are navigating our changing world well is a bias to action.

Specifically how comfortable we feel with running experiments to iterate our way forward.

Jason Stockwood was one leader I spoke to when I wrote The Big Bold Mindset® who told me that on his journey growing his Insurance company from £10m to £300m plus, his team ran on average 60 experiments a week.

Curiosity and a willingness to try new things run through big bold leaders like the words in a stick of rock.

What was the last experiment you tried? What did you learn? And what’s your next experiment?

I’m happy to share something I’ve been playing with this week.

Using Claude Code I’ve built an app to analyse and predict my bass fishing. I’ve called it Fishful Thinking :)

Candid disclosure. I used precisely zero coding skills for this whole enterprise.

I started with the locations and times of fish that I’ve caught this year.

Roll forward one day of experiments and I’ve now got a predictive data model which is overlaid with weather and tide data and makes suggestions on new experiments to run.

AI is so much more than writing emails and reviewing documents. One application is about building and creation new things.

What’s the relevance of Fishful Thinking to work?

It’s all about learning, experimenting, testing and developing new skills.

What experiments could you try?

Something at work to save time, to make things more efficient? Something you enjoy doing? Something where you want to develop some new ideas?

These insanely clever tools are right here, right now to paraphrase FatBoy Slim.

Don’t be behind the curve. Go experiment and play!!

And the shop selling Fishy Merch we’re getting ready to launch (all built on the same day).

Here’s 3 experiments to try

2 minute experiment

Stare out of the window and ponder some areas where you think it would be fun to build something that could solve a problem you face.

5 minute experiment

Speak your ideas into your favourite AI and ask it to develop your ideas so that you can experiment with one new thing.

20 minute experiment

Get your AI to build a v1 prototype. (15 mins was what it took for v1 of Fishful thinking).
